Police explains why 3 alleged members of Evans' gang were released

- Three suspected members of the kidnap gang led by Evans were released by the Nigeria Police Force recently

- The police has explained why they took the decision as some of the victims continue to express fear over the safety of their lives.

Three alleged members of the kidnap gang reportedly led by Chukwudumeje George Onwuamadike, the alleged billionaire kidnapper popularly called Evans, have been released by the Nigeria Police Force. It was earlier reported that some of the victims of the kidnap gang are currently living in fear as some of the gang members are reportedly yet to be arrested.

One of such victims, Chief Donatus Dunu expressed worry over the reported release of an alleged informant of the gang, Emeka Egbulugha.

Egbulugha was a staff in the industry owned by Dunu.

The victim maintains that his former worker has a hand in his abduction by the gang led by Evans.

The deputy commissioner of police in charge of administration, Dansuki Galandashi, has now confirmed the release of Emeka and the two others, Kingsley and Galandashi, who recalled that the suspects were arrested and charged to court on May 17, was quoted by The Nation as saying:

“The suspects, he said, were remanded in prison custody before court granted them bail on June 23. “Before they were granted bail, Evans was arrested.

“We did an identification parade and they said they did not know Evans. Evans also claimed not to know any of them. “Since the Inspector-General of Police (IGP’s) creed is to inspire openness, we had no choice than to charge the case to court.

“The court looked at the evidences and released the suspects. The police did not release them, the court did.”

Meanwhile, another victim of Chukwudumeje George Onwamadike, the alleged billionaire kidnapper popularly called Evans, has narrated his experience. The Nation reports the victim as saying he was kept for six months in the kidnappers’ den and had kept a low profile since his release.
